Batter and potato base
- 🥔 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 🥚 1 egg, beaten
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 🧂 Salt to taste
- 🧄 1 pinch garlic salt
Filling and frying
- 🧈 1 tablespoon butter
- 🧀 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Combine mashed potatoes, beaten egg, flour, salt, and garlic salt in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Mix well until combined.
Melt butter in a large frying pan on low heat.
Drop pancake-sized lumps (about 4-inch circles) of mashed potato mixture into the frying pan and pat flat to a thickness of 1/2 to 1 inch.
Sprinkle Cheddar cheese onto the mashed potato cake, then spoon another layer of potato mixture over the cheese. Flatten slightly to seal.
Cook on one side until browned (about 10 minutes), then flip and cook the other side until browned (another 10 minutes).
