INGREDIENTS
Meringue Base
- 🍚 1 cup white sugar, divided
- 🌽 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 🥚 3 large egg whites
- 🍋 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Whipped Cream & Toppings
- 🥛 1 ¼ cups heavy whipping cream
- 🍚 ½ cup confectioners' sugar
- 🍓 1 pint fresh strawberries
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and draw a 9-inch circle in the center.
Mix 1/4 cup sugar and cornstarch in a small bowl.
Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add 3/4 cup sugar until stiff peaks form, then fold in cornstarch mixture and lemon juice.
Spread meringue on the baking sheet into the drawn circle. Shape the edges into a shallow bowl or decorative swirls.
Bake in the oven for 1 hour, then turn off oven and let the meringue sit inside for an additional 30 minutes.
Beat heavy cream and confectioners' sugar into thick whipped cream. Spread the cream over the meringue base and top with strawberries.
