INGREDIENTS

- ⅔ cup raisins
Liquids

- 🥛 1 cup milk
- 💧 1 tablespoon water
Dry Ingredients
- 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 🍬 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon salt

- 🧈 ¾ cup cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces

STEPS
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Soak raisins in hot water for 10 minutes, then drain and set aside.
Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl. Cut in cold butter using 2 knives or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in milk until moistened; add raisins. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, pat or roll it into a 3/4- to 1-inch thick round. Cut into 8 biscuits with a biscuit cutter and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.
Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water in a small bowl and brush the mixture onto each biscuit.
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, approximately 15 minutes.
