INGREDIENTS
Yeast mixture
- 1 (.25 ounce) envelope active dry yeast
- 💧 ¼ cup warm water
- 🍬 Pinch white sugar
Dough
- 🌾 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 🍬 1 cup white sugar
- 🥚 3 eggs
- 🧈 ¼ cup melted butter, cooled
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon salt
- 🥛 1 ¼ cups milk
STEPS
Dissolve yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar in a small bowl. Let it ferment for 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, add yeast mixture, sugar, eggs, salt, flour, and milk. Mix until dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a cloth and let rise for 45 minutes.
Divide dough into 15-20 pieces and form flat round cakes 1/2 inch thick. Place on a floured cloth for 1 1/2 hours of rising.
Cook the cakes on a heavy ungreased skillet over low heat. Fry on each side until golden.
