INGREDIENTS
Base Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 🧅 1 onion, chopped
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 cup green beans
- 🍅 1 cup tomatoes, diced
- 🧄 1 clove garlic, minced
- 🥔 2 potatoes, cooked and mashed
- 💧 ½ cup water
- 🥚 1 large egg, beaten
- ¼ cup shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)

STEPS
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir onion in hot oil until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add ground beef and basil, then cook and stir until beef is crumbly and browned, about 5 minutes.
Mix in green beans, tomatoes, and garlic; cook until beans are slightly softened, about 5 minutes more.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared casserole dish.
Mix mashed potatoes, water, and beaten egg in a bowl until smooth. Spread evenly over beef mixture.
Bake in the oven until potatoes turn golden brown on top, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Sprinkle Cheddar cheese over the top and bake until melted, about 5 minutes more.
Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
