INGREDIENTS
Cooking Spray
- 🧴 Nonstick vegetable oil cooking spray
Wet Ingredients
- 🥚 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
Dry Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups finely ground almond flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 🧂 ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 🍫 2 tablespoons Dutch-process cocoa powder
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a nonstick donut pan by spraying or brushing with cooking spray. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, whisk eggs, vegetable oil, and maple syrup until emulsified, light, and foamy, approximately 3 to 4 minutes.
Add almond flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder to the wet mixture. Mix thoroughly with a spatula until a thick batter forms.
Transfer the batter into a pastry bag or a plastic zip-top bag with a cut corner, and pipe evenly into the prepared donut pan.
Smooth the tops of the batter using a wet finger, then tap the pan on a work surface to settle the batter further.
Bake in the center of the preheated oven for 9 to 10 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into a donut comes out clean. Let donuts cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
Cool completely before serving. Optionally, drizzle with melted dark chocolate and garnish with toasted coconut, chopped almonds, or dark chocolate chips.
