INGREDIENTS
Pastry
- 6 ounces frozen puff pastry
Meat
- 🥓 1 slice bacon, cut in half
- 🥩 8 ounces ground beef
Seasoning
- 🧂 Salt to taste
- 🧂 Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Cayenne pepper to taste
Dairy
- 🧀 ½ ounce sharp Cheddar cheese
- 🥚 1 large egg
STEPS
Gather all ingredients.
Cook bacon in a large skillet until browned, about 10 minutes. Drain on paper towels and clean skillet lightly.
Shape ground beef into a patty and season with salt, pepper, and cayenne. Sear in skillet for 2 minutes per side, then cool in refrigerator.
Roll the frozen puff pastry to 1/8 inch thick. Cut a 5 1/4–5 1/2 inch circle for the bottom and a 7 1/4–7 1/2 inch circle for the top. Freeze dough until firm.
Score the top pastry lightly and cut a small vent hole. Keep chilled in the fridge.
Place burger, bacon, and cheese on bottom pastry. Brush the edges with egg wash and seal with top pastry. Chill for 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Crimp edges of pastry with a fork and brush top surface with egg wash.
Bake until nicely browned, about 20–22 minutes. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
