INGREDIENTS
Base Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 🧅 2 cups chopped onion
- 🥕 2 cups chopped carrot
- 2 cups finely chopped celery
- 1 ½ teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 cup yellow split peas
- 1 cup green split peas
- 8 cups fat-free chicken broth
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt-free seasoning blend
- 🧂 1 teaspoon salt
STEPS
Gather the ingredients.
Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Cook and stir until onion is translucent, about 5 to 7 minutes.
Stir in broth, split peas, and seasoning blend. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring frequently, until split peas are tender, about 2 ½ hours.
Puree the soup with an immersion blender and serve.
