INGREDIENTS
Wonton Wrappers
- 6 (3.5 inch square) wonton wrappers
Vegetable
- 🥬 3 ½ cups shredded green cabbage
- 🥕 1 cup julienned carrot
- ¼ cup julienned red bell pepper
- 🧅 ⅓ cup thinly sliced green onions
- 🧄 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
Condiments and Seasonings
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sake
- ¼ teaspoon sesame oil
- 🍬 1 teaspoon white sugar
- ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon ketchup
- ½ teaspoon cornstarch
Meat and Protein
- 🐖 ½ pound ground pork
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cut wonton wrappers into 1/4-inch strips. Transfer them to a baking pan, toss with vegetable oil, and spread out evenly.
Bake the wonton strips in the oven until browned, approximately 12 minutes. Let them cool and reserve them.
Combine shredded green cabbage, julienned carrot, red bell pepper, sliced green onions, and minced garlic in a bowl. Set aside.
Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, sake, sesame oil, white sugar, grated ginger, cayenne pepper, white pepper, ketchup, and cornstarch in a small bowl to prepare the sauce. Reserve.
Brown the ground pork in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small crumbles as it cooks, 5 to 7 minutes.
Add the vegetable mixture to the skillet and combine with the browned pork. Stir and cook until the vegetables start to soften, about 2 minutes.
Stir the reserved sauce into the skillet and mix everything to evenly coat. Cook and stir until vegetables reach the desired doneness, 1 to 2 minutes more.
Serve the finished dish in a bowl and top with the crispy wonton strips.
