Cake Batter
- 🧂 3/4 cup white sugar
- 🧈 1/4 cup butter or shortening
- 🥚 1 large egg
- 🌾 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 🧂 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 🧂 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 🥛 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
Topping
- 🧂 1/2 cup white sugar
- 🌾 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 🧈 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 🌶 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8x8-inch pan.
In a large bowl, beat sugar, butter, and egg with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Stir flour, baking powder, and salt together in a separate bowl.
Add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture in two batches, alternating with milk. Beat briefly after each addition. Fold in the blueberries. Pour into the greased pan.
For the topping, mix sugar, flour, butter, and cinnamon with your hands until crumbly. Sprinkle over the cake batter.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
