- 🧈 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 🥛 ½ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 💧 1 ½ cups boiling water
Dry Ingredients
- 🌾 1 cup self-rising flour
- 🍚 1 ¾ cups white sugar, divided
- 🍫 1 ½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 🍫 ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and place butter into an 8-inch square baking dish. Let it melt while the oven preheats.
Sift flour, ¾ cup sugar, and 1 ½ tablespoons cocoa into a medium bowl. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth.
Combine the remaining 1 cup sugar and ¼ cup cocoa powder in a small bowl.
Pour the flour-sugar mixture over the melted butter in the baking dish, then sprinkle the sugar-cocoa mixture on top. Slowly pour boiling water over everything (do not stir).
Bake for about 30 minutes until set. Serve warm, ideally with ice cream on top.
