INGREDIENTS
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 🧂 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Wet Ingredients
- 🧈 2/3 cup unsalted butter
- 🍯 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 🥚 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Nuts
- 1 1/2 cups pecans, toasted and chopped, divided
STEPS
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, extending the paper over the sides.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda; set aside.
In a medium saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Cook and stir over medium heat until melted and smooth, about 6 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
Stir eggs and vanilla into the cooled butter mixture.
Stir the butter mixture into the flour mixture until just combined.
Fold in 1 1/4 cups of the pecans, leaving the remaining 1/4 cup for topping.
Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup pecans over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven until set and the internal temperature reads 200°F (93°C), about 35 to 40 minutes.
Cool the blondies in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Cool completely on the wire rack before cutting into bars.
